Artist's Bio
Moncea Malina (b.1995) is a Romanian artist who works with an array of mediums like photography, video, object or sculpture, often intertwining them in installations. She examines themes such as urban mythologies and how they have infiltrated through popular ideologies the spaces we inhabit, the way we think about certain social and political topics and more often, how elusive and optically ambiguous, the fictions we play and reenact in our midsts are (any extension of our body or the internal experience that shapes us). Malina appreciates the eerie and uncanny aspect (as well as the aesthetic representation) of what lies beyond conscious thought and researches what part is fiction and what is objective truth in the liminality of the mind. “As an artist who continually seeks exploration and experiment, i think of the melange of mediums and concepts as a contemporary necessity, while entering the world of the “post”, because here lies everything beyond the limitations of labels, the greys, the misunderstood and the baffling”.
